H1N1 Flu Hotline

FONEMED’s Registered Nurses have been providing information on the H1N1 (Swine) Flu since the first outbreaks in early 2009.  When individuals call with questions on H1N1 or display H1N1 symptoms, they are connected to a Registered Nurse.  The nurse uses computerized Schmitt/ Thompson triage protocols and US Government Center for Disease Control and World Health Organization guidelines to guide callers through a series of specific questions on H1N1. The nurse will give callers advice and information for dealing with the flu and, when necessary, can provide referrals to vaccination sites or the appropriate primary care facility. Nurses are up to date on H1N1 information, and appropriate courses of action. Individual encounter reports and aggregate statistics are available real-time to the appropriate health authority.

For governments, private employers or member benefit organizations,  FONEMED provides callers preventative measures to reduce Flu risk, priorities and locations for vaccinations, the status of outbreaks in their schools, workplaces and neighborhoods, the symptoms of Flu and other communicable diseases and steps for home-based care or location of appropriate primary care facilities.

For public health and school authorities,  FONEMED provides caregivers, teachers, first responders and others in the CDC’s highest risk category with reliable information about their own risk factors and responses, provides an information resource base to communicate timely information to the public, identifies clusters in schools and geographic areas when symptoms first appear and monitors trends as they develop, and directs individuals with symptoms away from schools, public gatherings and inappropriate visits to emergency rooms.

Let FONEMED create an H1N1 Hotline for you today!
