LiveCare Clinic improves patient outcomes and reduces costs for individuals, self-insured employers, third party administrators, insurers, governments and others. It is an ideal addition to member benefits packages. Private employers can benefit because, by providing workers with access to round-the-clock health information and guidance, they achieve a reduction in overall healthcare costs and the number of workdays lost. Insurance companies and other payers benefit through redirection of their numbers from high-cost ER visits to physician visits, and from physician visits to home care, thus providing a significant return on investment (ROI).
By using the same model as brick-and-mortar medical practices employing health service receptionists, registered nurses and physicians, LiveCare Clinic is able to provide a more cost-effective and time-sensitive response than can physicians or nurses alone.
Our Health Service Representatives answer all calls live, round-the-clock. They direct callers requiring prescription assistance or immediate physician access to a board-certified physician. Otherwise, a Registered Nurse takes the call, works through the caller’s symptoms and, using computerized medical protocols designed by Dr. Barton Schmitt and Dr. David Thompson, recommends a course of action. This could mean directing the caller to the ER/Urgent Care or to a regularly scheduled appointment with his or her doctor. The majority of the time, however, the caller can be provided with health information or home care advice that may make a trip to a healthcare provider unnecessary. The caller can also request additional review by a LiveCare Clinic physician.
Members or employers pay a monthly fee for access to the LiveCare Clinic based on anticipated annual utilization. The cost of doctor calls can be built into the anticipated utilization fee or billed as a co-pay to the subscriber. The anticipated utilization fee includes calls with the Registered Nurses and Health Service Representatives at no additional charge.
